Coach Emma Nelson (or “Coach Nelly” as the team calls her) is a new Humanities teacher at Eastlake High School and in her second year with the Girls Basketball Program. All through high school, she played basketball in Portland, Oregon with her club team and at Jesuit High School.  After high school, she attended the University of Oregon, continuing to play both competitive and intramural basketball.  Coach Nelly graduated with a double major in English and Spanish, and then went on to pursue her passion for teaching at the University of Portland where she graduated with a Masters of Arts in Teaching. Both playing and coaching college basketball has always been such a huge part of her life, so when the opportunity arose to coach this year, she took it as quickly as she could.  While this is her 2nd year coaching for Eastlake High School, Coach Nelly has coached various youth teams through the YMCA organization.  She feels honored to be a part of the Eastlake Girls Basketball program, and is excited for the upcoming season.
