Megan Novak - Assistant Coach

Bio

Coach “Megz” is entering her 10th year of coaching high school girls basketball.  After a short stint at Blanchet in 2008 she joined Coach Goldie’s staff at Redmond High School in 2009 and never looked back.  Coach Megz was the JV Coach at Redmond for the 2009-2010 season and then followed Goldie to the Plateau to be an assistant in the Eastlake program.  It has been a true privilege to be part of the Eastlake Family for all these years, and she is thrilled to carry our momentum into this season and continue coaching alongside Goldie.
Coach Megz grew up in a basketball family in Seattle and although her first day of tryouts in 2nd grade were terrifying, she quickly fell in love with the game and eventually became a standout player at Blanchet High School.  Coach Megz was a member of teams that placed 2nd in the 3A state tournament in both her freshman and sophomore years.  While in high school, she played basketball for the Seattle Magic, as well as became a charter member of the Puget Sound Flight program, where she played for two years.  Coach Megz also lettered in Volleyball, and was on a team that won the Metro title her junior year, and a team that placed 5th in the state her senior year.  After high school, she attended Western Washington University and played lacrosse while earning a B.S. in Sociology and a minor in Economics.  During her sophomore and senior seasons, she was voted to the league all-star team for defense.  (FACT: DEFENSE WINS GAMES!!!!). After dedicating most of her life to playing basketball she has found a passion for coaching the game. Coach Megz is lucky to have grown up with some fantastic role models, specifically her family, who showed her how to love the game. She believes that basketball is more than just a sport; it is an opportunity to learn about life and all it has to offer.  Having learned some valuable and tough life lessons through her many years of playing and coaching, she hopes to provide similar lessons for her players.  Some of Coach Megz’ other loves in life: Disney, family, Bailey the Dog, photography, traveling, baking, and playing lacrosse.
